happy valentine's day

I've been baking a lot this year. Having a full kitchen has opened up a million possibilities that don't really exist when one lives in the dorm room. This is the second cake I've made from scratch (I made the icing too). It is a vanilla cake with sour cream icing! The cake is old-fashioned and a little more dense than modern recipes and the icing is the perfect combination of sweet and sour! I had so much batter that I made a two-story cake and 9 little cupcakes!

If I could I would send a cupcake to everyone of my followers as thanks for all the lovely comments you leave me. Every time I read a comment I smile and I love the feedback you all have given me on outfits, life, and photography! Thank you for giving sixbeforebreakfast a little love && happy valentine's day to you all!

the most romantic date

the most romantic date

the most romantic date
The most romantic date I've ever been on was with myself. Last weekend, I took myself to Brighton-a beach town on the English coast. I took a train there and treated myself to lunch (cranberry and brie on baguette) and bought myself a velvet dress and a silk shirt--I know, I really spoil myself. I went to the pier and admired the lights, twirling rides, and neon colours. I spent hours walking up and down the beach. I stopped to take photos, I searched for beautiful coloured rocks and smooth shells, and I read a little Hemmingway. It was a beautiful, beautiful day and, by far, one of my favorite days in England. It's so nice to enjoy your own company especially in a place as romantic and charismatic as Brighton beach.

I took several hundred photos that day and am a little overwhelmed with going through them. Does that happen to you? I often get overwhelmed by tasks that are daunting and instead of tackling them I just ignore them. I really think I took some good photos so I need to go through them so I can share. Also, does anyone have any recommendation for good photography blogs? I'm always looking for further inspiration!

Lately, this blog has moved away from fashion towered photography. Part of this is because of all my adventures that I want to share. But mostly I've been sharing photos because this is what I care about. I still love style and dressing up and experimenting but I dislike the pressure of photographing it. I have enjoyed wearing an outfit and not feeling like I need to share it but just wearing it because I love it! Also, photography is very important to me. I have taken more and more of an interest in it as the years go on and I want to share that. I like this little online journal to reflect my passions and photography is my numba one passion. I hope you'll stick with me, continue to give me feedback, and enjoy the twists and turns my life takes.

much, much to do

Much like my fellow collegiate-bloggers I have been a busy bee with schoolwork. I try to make time to blog daily because it's relaxing and it makes me happy. I have some grander posts in mind and hopefully I will have a few minutes to put them together in the near future. Meanwhile. . .

I registered and was accepted as an Independent Fashion Blogger. My blog gets some flair and I have access to an inspiring community of people full of advice on everything from style to html. It's all very exciting!

"Keys. There are keys in there that haven’t opened up anything in decades. But you think it’s not nice to throw away keys. They’re heavy and make a clanking noise when they hit the bottom of the wastebasket. Never mind. Throw them out. Throw it all out."

"You are so young, so much before all beginning, and I would like to beg you, dear Sir, as well as I can, to have patience with everything unresolved in your heart and to try to love the questions themselves as if they were locked rooms or books written in a very foreign language. Don't search for the answers, which could not be given to you now, because you would not be able to live them. And the point is, to live everything. Live the questions now. Perhaps then, someday far in the future, you will gradually, without even noticing it, live your way into the answer."

a post with a lot of words

Hello readers... if there are readers besides my mom and grandmother (hi you two, too!),

I am at a point where I don't know what I want to blog about. I need your (if there is a your) help. Or maybe I just need to write it out so that I can figure it out on my own.

I started this blog because I was bored and I wanted a place to put things that interest me. Then I became more interested in the fashion-side of the internet (wardrobe-remix, chictopia).

Last semester when my depression got the best of me I began to post mostly outfit related posts. I didn't have the energy or excitement needed to write a lot of personal things. I didn't feel creative.

Now, I don't know where I want to go with this blog. I love clothing and I love taking outfit photos with Boyfriend but I feel unqualified to post outfit photos everyday. I don't know if I want to have only a "fashion blog." (Somewhat cynically, I feel like I'd get more readers if I did a pure fashion blog as opposed to a personal blog).

I don't want to stop posting about my life at college, especially since this semester is bound to be an exciting one. In my mind I'm trying to meld the two together--fashion and personal blog as one??

Also, I like to write and I want to get feed back on things I write. Although, I am taking a creative writing course so I will get feedback there...

I guess what I'm asking is... what do you (if there is a you) come here to see?

Please email me at sixbeforebreakfastt at gmail dot com.

a list of excuses as to why i'm not blogging

1. It's the week before finals so I'm doing papers
2. My computer has gone wonky so I'm using library computers

Short list. I hope to be back soon because trust me, I'd rather be blogging than writing papers. Even though I love a good research paper.

so you know

i have tons of photos and stories and good times...
but my computer is not working and I can't upload the photos.

I will be back soon I hope;
meanwhile--I urge you to check out the lovely blogs I have linked to your right!

i won't take up too much of your time but..

Hey!

I have a new blog layout. Three columns; pretty spiffy, eh? I will be continuing to update little details throughout the week. I appreciate any and all feedback.

Some cool new things:
--> other places you can find me
<-- a new bigger photo!
<-- if you feel like searching for specific things (like outfit posts) you can look at the labels list

Oh, I've also reached 200 absolutely unique visitors and have published over 100 (103 to be exact) posts! This makes me pretty excited about this little blog baby :)

Have a thuper Thursday!

nawfik

I'm a terrible blogger. I'm the first to admit that.
The thing is, I'm not sure what I want to blog about.
On top of that, I have no set schedule.

I work full time.
Then my nights are spent out with friends, seizing every opportunity to make memories of a great summer.
My weekends are the same.
Last weekend I was visiting a friend in Norfolk, VA.

I'll figure out where I want this blog to go; probably once I go back to school.
I like pictures though.
Here you go:

i've been missing you

Sorry world,

I've been busy. I've been at work & going to my class (thank dios that's over). I've been to Richmond for a girlie adventure. We had friends over at Boyfriend's. That was fun. I have lots of pictures.

I promise I'll share them.

Promise.

See, the problem is I'm never home. I'm always at Boyfriend's. Or at a friends' house. Sometimes I go camping. Sometimes I go to Richmond.

This week I'm going to visit my favorite baby. I'm also going into the city for a folk festival with my love. Plus, we're celebrating the fourth multiple times. *Cross fingers I'll get to see fireworks*.

So you see why I've fallen behind?
I'll update soon.

I promise.

HTML

I am HTML illiterate; so I have no idea how to center the image I just uploaded. Hmm.

It's a gray, gray, cold & windy day. And there's this moisture falling from the sky that the feline in me objects to.

I want this:
