When we sleep
we try and curl up
like puzzle pieces fitting together
when we sleep
our legs intertwine,
one on top of another, on top of another
when we sleep
we spoon up close
and hold on tight and don't let go
when we sleep
our pillows get damp
and our sheets, from drool and sweat
when we sleep
there is a fight each night
for the blanket, and for pillows, and for space in a too small bed
when we sleep
we have bad dreams, and good ones,
and in the morning we share, and cuddle, and kiss.
